Cumberland, MD – Frosty’s 9^th Annual Hot Rod Show has been eagerly anticipated since the last car rolled away from last year’s show. While last year’s show was a big success, it was held back from all it could’ve been by early rain, and we all know how that affects everything, especially a car show. Everyone had their fingers crossed weather would be good this year and the weather man/woman did not disappoint! With good weather, this was a top-notch show even before the first show car was parked! There was a noticeable buzz in the air as soon as you got out of your vehicle and felt the excitement from those already there. Anyone who has been to this show before knows a big part of what makes it special is that the proceeds directly benefit The Holding Hands for Haley Foundation and Averey’s Change Up Foundation, both local organizations helping local kids in need. This means that people who show up and donate know their hard-earned cash is going to help a child who needs it and don’t have to wonder how it’s being used. There’s a face at the end of the donation, not a corporate logo. This is what brings some of the best car people there are out to show off their cars and have a good time for a good cause. And something like this just doesn’t magically rise from the dirt in the parking lot, it’s a coordinated effort by Jim Frost, his daughter, Sabrina, Misty Stewart, and a whole crew of volunteers and sponsors too numerous to mention here. The hard work they put in is evident by how well it all flows and the smiles on everyone’s faces.

If you didn’t see a car or truck (or even a vehicle hard to describe) here you really liked, you had your eyes closed the whole time. A record number of vehicles were on display of every size, shape imaginable. Big trucks, little trucks, hot rods, drag cars, dirt cars, survivors, you name it, and it was there. One thing that really made me smile was the number of younger people who were there not only admiring the show, but also some participating. It’s always good to see the future of the sport represented.

Something added to this year’s show was a Hot Wheels drag race. While it was fun and exciting, everyone soon found out the Corvette was very fast but crashed easily. Also new was the Silent Auction that was chock full of goodies to bid on, as well as a beautiful custom tailgate bench that was raffled off. And of course, if the auctions or raffles weren’t your thing, the food was, as always, excellent!

At the end of the day, what everyone expected came true and there were a record number of cars in attendance (412) and more importantly, a record amount of money (over $36,000!) raised for the supported charities. Undeniable proof good cars and good people can make good things happen!

I have to apologize to those whose cars didn’t make it into this article. There were so many cars, all special in their own way, and so much going on, it became all too easy for me to lose track of what cars I took pictures of and those I didn’t. And even the best of pictures can’t do justice to the beautiful and creative cars and trucks on display. Even when they were leaving the parking lot at day’s end it was a show better than most. It’s just something you need to see in person! If you’ve never been to one of Frosty’s shows, make sure to keep a day open for it next year. As it will be the 10th anniversary of this show, look for it to be even bigger and better than ever! The date has already been set at July, 25^th, 2027. Be there and be ready to support the kids in need!
