On this day, the early going was all about the Junior Dragsters. If there’s a better way than this category to get youngsters involved in drag racing, I sure don’t know what it is. It seemed like a really great bunch of kids, too. They wore their game faces and were all business when it came to racing. It was all a family affair too, as family members were there not only for moral support, but to assist with getting their drivers race-ready and staged. Indeed, none of this was “kid stuff” but serious racing. This was a stark contrast to how most of the kids out there today are spending their weekends. It’s kind of ironic considering this was a bunch of kids acting like their grown-up counterparts while a lot of adults on the premises were having a good time acting like kids again.

Pair after pair of immaculate dragsters came to the line, all looking like professionals, all having a good time. Lots of handshakes were exchanged after each round, with everyone either satisfied they did their best or very happy to have the win light come on. It was just one of those scenes you could watch all day. Good competition among good kids, just the thing that would give anyone hope for the future of not only the sport, but for the future of America. If you get a chance, check out these young guys and gals and give them a proverbial tip of the cap. Also, keep checking back for a post spotlighting the young man who would end up in the winner’s circle on this day. Thanks for reading!
