Beaver Springs Dragway – Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day (I didn’t know that one, did you?), is a holiday established in our country for the purpose of honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It was fitting on Memorial Day weekend at Beaver Springs Dragway to see a car paying tribute to our service personnel. Although he, himself, didn’t serve in the military, Brian Pecht of Lewistown, PA really appreciates what the military has done for us all, and displays it on the side of his car. He’s quick to add, “It wouldn’t be a free country without them.”

Brian’s been running the car, which is a 2011 Miller dragster, for about 10 years now and says that it’s been really fun to drive. Power comes from a 598 cu.in. Big Block built by Wilson in Delaware. Brian has seen a best e.t. of 4.70 in the eighth mile and 7.40s in the quarter mile. Top speed is in the neighborhood of 180 mph in the quarter. The Pecht’s call Beaver Springs Dragway their home track, but they also like like to travel to other tracks for money races. While watching them, it’s obvious Brian and his wife make a good team when campaigning this car. That makes perfect sense when you learn they actually met each other at the drag strip and they both raced. It’s not only a great husband/wife combination, their grandson also likes to race with them, driving their old car. This kind of family racing is a perfect way to celebrate the freedom we have in this country.
