Mopar No Car Beaver Springs Dragway

It was a slow start to the “Mopar or No Car” event at Beaver Springs Dragway. Lots of wetness in PA to deal with in recent weeks and it took the dedicated, top-notch crew a bit of time to get a few pesky wet spots on the track taken care of so the racers would have the safest possible surface to race on. As always, this track and its’ employees take the well being of the racers and their overall safety as their most important task.

While everyone was itching to get the cars on the track, it became a great time for everyone to catch up with their racing family after a long winter and a Spring too full of rain to race. A few people could be overheard discussing the choice between carburetors and EFI. Once everything was ready for racing, it was obvious some of the best Mopars in the area were in attendance. For those who don’t know, the term “Mopar” stands for the brand “MOtor PARts” and is associated with Chrysler products. Through the years, the name has also become synonymous with the cars made by that company. The cars that arrived at the track on this day displayed a good mixture of old and new, ranging from stock to highly modified. And there was a fine representation of Mopar design in the Car Show area as well.

Of all the excellent cars on the grounds, the one that really captured my attention was the ‘66 Barracuda of Wallace Quarry. That car and driver are covered more in-depth in its’ own column as well as the Barracuda of Chaz Houser (who won his class at this event). Look for upcoming posts on these great cars and drivers later on this website.

With the smell of racing fuel and tire smoke in the air, the Mopars gave everyone an incredible show. And speaking of shows, some of the Test and Tune cars put on a quite a show of their own. This is just one of those events where the only losers were the ones who didn’t attend. Make some space on your calendar to check this event out next year since you missed this one.
